Overview

Palms Bungalow is a single-storey three-bedroom on Isle of Palms, and the reason people book it is out the back: a private heated pool in a fully fenced yard, ringed with palms, with nobody looking in. Swim in the morning, grill in the evening, let the kids wear themselves out in between. There isn't a stair in the house — front door to pool deck, all one level.

Inside there are two separate living areas, which is more useful than it sounds. One group can have a film on while the other keeps talking, and if you're here for a fortnight it stops the house feeling small. The primary bedroom has a queen, its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a Smart TV. The second bedroom has a queen and a Smart TV. The third has a twin daybed with a trundle underneath — good for kids, good for the odd extra guest. Bedrooms two and three share the hall bathroom, also a walk-in shower.

The kitchen is properly equipped rather than technically equipped: dishwasher, oven and stove, microwave, ice maker, toaster, kettle, blender, pots and pans, a baking sheet, real dishes, spices, wine glasses, and a coffee station with enough to get you through the first morning. Washer and dryer are in the house, so a long stay needs one bag. Outside there's a grill, an outdoor table, sun loungers and a covered spot in the shade for when the sun gets serious.

Travelling with small ones? A travel crib and a high chair are already here, the yard is fenced all the way round, and Isle of Palms Park is at the end of the street. Beach gear is stacked by the door — chairs, a wagon, a cooler and beach towels — so a beach day takes ten minutes to organise instead of an hour.

You can access all spaces in the house, backyard and pool.

Check-in is keyless, so you can arrive at anytime. The driveway takes two cars. Guest interaction will be on a need be basis. We are local, and can be reached if needed, but want to respect your privacy.

- No parties, events or gatherings that include more than the number of registered guests. 

- Smoking is not allowed on the property.

- Pets are welcome (max 3 dogs, no cats). We just ask that they're house-trained or crated when they're on their own.

- NO pets on furniture. 

- Pet fee: $150
